Budapest also known as the ‘Pearl of the Danube’ is
a wonderful city. One will be charmed, amazed and fascinated all
at the same time. Its history and culture is full of diversity.
A huge influence on Budapest’s culture were the Romans who
arrived here in the 1st century A.D., and even though they only
stayed a couple of hundred years the made a huge impact on its
culture. Vine growing on the Hungary’s sun drenched slopes
was a huge attraction for them and once introduced, it remained
a huge industry up to this day. They also brought their own style
of architecture and built their homes and mansions with all the
columns and arches that made up the Roman architecture style. They
also loved their baths, which they seemed to have put the thermal
springs that lie under Budapest’s glorious city to good use
by creating the now-famous ‘Public Baths of Budapest.
There is something for every visitor to Budapest. At the height
of the Summer tourist season, one can still find a room in the
city, although the only exception is the Formula One weekend in
August which attracts a couple of hundred thousand people into
the city, and Budapest usually gets totally booked even a year
in advance.
One can choose from a room with a gorgeous view, a room downtown,
or maybe thermal spa hotel room or just a quiet room somewhere
in the beautiful peaceful Buda Hills
The Thermal Baths is a huge tourist attraction and many come to
relieve their aching bones. The Gellert Baths are really famous
and can be used by the public, and are a must-see tourist attraction.
Staying in the Buda Hills is the place to be if its’ the
fresh air and the peace that you are after and the lush green
scenery as well as the panoramic views over the city and the
river Danube. Hiking and renting out bikes, listening to the
birds sing and lovely walks are activities to keep your mind
relaxed.
Budapest has become a leading city destination within
the past few years. It simply must be visited to be appreciated.
A true gem of a city that should be on anyone’s list of places
to visit.
