There are some great markets in Budapest that need to be discovered
where you will buy local hand crafted gifts and souvenirs as well
as trying out the fried dough delicacy at the langos booth, or
sip a glass of wine among the locals while watching them do their
shopping around the food stalls.
When you see the beautiful Green Iron Bridge, you will know that
this will bring you to Gellert Hill and its famous hotel. You can
also take a tram 47 or 49. The baths and the top of the hill is
your choice here. The baths in the hotel are a must see and the
hill walk takes about 20 minutes. There is a park on the way up
full of walkers and children playing. Bring your camera. The view
at the top is spectacular.
When you get to the bottom of Gellert Hill, take tram 19 to Batthyany
ter where there are great views of the Parliament building. Then
take the metro to Deak ter and continue then to Heroes Square (Hosok
tere) where the monuments are very impressive and Stalin’s
statue use to be located here. The City Park is at the back of
the Square with all its entertainment. The most famous Restaurant
is also around here, the World renowned Gundel restaurant, as well
as many museums on either side of the Square.
